Halloween is coming up soon this year! To minimize accidents and injury, here are some safety tips from Safe Kids.

  1. Carry glow sticks and use reflective tape or stickers on costumes, especially while walking down darker streets.
  2. Make sure younger children are supervised at all times.
  3. If you are driving on Halloween night, make sure to drive slowly and be aware of any kids running through the street. Turn on headlights early in the day.
  4. Remind kids to cross the street at crosswalks, making sure they look both ways before crossing.
  5. Make sure to choose a costume that fits your child and allows them to move around easily.

Also, regarding COVID-19 safety, this study done by University of California San Diego School of Medicine and San Diego State University found that the likelihood of transmitting COVID-19 via candy wrappers is very low. They did a study in which they tested the viral load of wrapped candy handled by COVID-19 patients. You can find more information here: UCSD and SDSU study
